“Fer, life and legacy” gives voice to memory

Six years after the traffic accident that shocked Jalisco society, Jalisco TV will broadcast "Fer, life and legacy. Essence and transcendence of a great woman," a moving documentary that honors the memory of María Fernanda Peña and Alejandro Castro, the young couple who lost their lives in 2019 after being hit by the vehicle driven by soccer player Joao Maleck , who was speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol .
This project was produced independently by the audiovisual production company 202 Media Makers and is the result of a research and work process that seeks to go beyond the tragic event to tell a story of love, resilience, and justice .
Although the central focus of the story is María Fernanda Peña, the documentary also gives voice to those who were an essential part of her life, such as her husband Alejandro Castro—who also died in the accident—and to key figures such as Martha Álvarez, María Fernanda's mother, who has become a tireless advocate for justice and for her daughter's legacy.
With testimonies, interviews, anecdotes, and intimate moments, the production portrays a brilliant, loving, and dreamy woman whose life was taken at the age of 26. Rather than memorializing a tragedy, this production seeks to pay tribute to her memory and leave a message of reflection about loss, love, and the fight for truth.
A story of love and memories"Fer, Life and Legacy," exclusively broadcast on Sunday, July 27, at 8:00 p.m., on Jalisco TV (17.1 free-to-air).
